Ráth ar an gClub Ceoil ag Scléip! (Success for the Music Club at Scléip!)

IMG 7080

Rinne ceoltóirí Choláiste Lú é arís agus tá siad tríd chuig an babhta ceannais de Scléip 2018 -  comórtas tallainne do Ghaelcholáistí le béim ar na healaíona comh-aimseartha. Tá suim sa chomórtas ag fásadh gach bliain sa scoil le cúig iomaitheoir ag glacadh páirte i mbliana sa réamhbhabhta in Amharclann an Gharáiste, Muineachán ar Déardaoin 30 Samhain.

Mar is gnáth bhí an caighdéan an-ard le tallann ó an-chuid Ghaelcholáistí eile ón gceantar mar Coláiste Ailigh, Coláiste Oiriall, Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair agus Coláiste Pobail Rath Cairn.

I rith an lae, d'éist na moltóirí le meascra de Redbone le Childish Gambino, Hey Ya le Outcast agus Is this Love? le Bob Marley ón tríréad tréitheach Ceol Sól. Thaispeáin scoláirí cúigiú bliain a dtaobh cruthaitheach agus scileanna cumadóireachta le dhá amhrán nua-chumtha - Piléar le Lauryn Ní Riain (a bhuaigh an dara háit i gComórtas Beo leis an amhrán céanna níos luaithe sa mhí) agus grúpa Seachtrán lena n-amhrán teacht in aois Áth na gCasán spreagtha ón mbaile áitiúil chois trá.

Ach bhí sé cór na scoile lena leagan beomhar de Wonder (Gliondar) le hEmeli Sandé agus grúpa cailíní na hEalaí Dubha lena gclúdach snasta de Sweet Dreams leis na Eurythmics a chuaigh i bhfeidhm ar na moltóirí chun áit a fháil sa chraobh ar Chéadaoin 31 Eanáir san Amharclann Clasaic i mBaile Átha Cliath.

Bain sult as samplaí den cheol ón mbabhta réigiúnda ar YouTube Choláiste Lú.

Coláiste Lú musicians and singers have done it again and are through to the finals of Gael Linn's creative arts competition Scléip! Entering more and more acts every year, 5 groups took part in the preliminary round in the Garage Theatre, Monaghan on Thursday November 30th.

As always the standard was extremely high with musical talent from many other Gaelcholáistí in the region such as Coláiste Ailigh, Coláiste Oiriall, Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair and Coláiste Pobail Rath Cairn.

The judges were treated to an infectious medley of recent hit Redbone by Childish Gambino, Outcast's floorfiller Hey Ya and Bob Marley's classic Is this Love? by talented trio Ceol Sól. And not to be upstaged, fifth year students excelled themselves producing two original songs including the powerful solo Piléar by Lauryn Ní Riain (who had already won second place in Comórtas Beo earlier in the month) and group Seachtrán's touching coming of age tale Áth na gCasán inspired by the popular local seaside town.

But it was the school choir with their lively recreation of Emeli Sandé's Wonder (Gliondar) and girl group Na hEalaí Dubha with a seamless cover of Sweet Dreams by the Eurhythmics that impressed the judges enough to progress onto the final on Wednesday 31st January 2018 in the Classic Theatre, Clontarf.
