Mol an Óige: Scoileanna páirteach in Ard-Fheis na nÓg de chuid Chonradh na Gaeilge don chéad uair

Déardaoin 14 Fearbhra reachtáil Conradh na Gaeilge an chéad Ard Fheis do dhaoine óga in Amharclann an Gharáiste, Muineacháin.  Thug Ard-Fheis na nÓg deis do dhaoine óga, ó scoileanna i gcúige Uladh agus Laighean, díospóireacht a dhéanamh ar cheisteanna sóisialta agus náisiúnta a bhaineann leo agus tabharfar tuairim na ndaoine óga sin san áireamh ag Ard-Fheis an Chonartha ó 22-23 Feabhra i Muineachán.

Cuireadh fáilte roimh dhaltaí sinsir Gaelscolaíochta ó Choláiste Feirste, Gaelcholáiste Oirialla, Coláiste Lú, agus Scoil Iosaef, An Domhnach Mór, freastal ar an ócáid phiolótach seo. Fuair siad blaiseadh ar chur chuige Ard-Fheis Chonradh na Gaeilge agus ar structhúr daonlathach na heagraíochta, a cheapann agus a stiúrann plean oibre an Chonartha gach bliain.

Ag teacht le téama na hArd-Fheise i mbliana ‘Teanga gan Teorainn’, pléadh rúin a bhaineann le todhchaí cur chun cinn na Gaeilge sa tír thuaidh agus theas, na himpleachtaí a d’fheadfadh an Breatimeacht imirt air sin agus neart eile.

Deir Uachtarán Chonradh na Gaeilge, an Dr Niall Comer:

“Is iontach go raibh Ard-Fheis na nÓg ann don chéad uair i mbliana. Tugann sé deis do Ghaeil óga teacht le chéile faoi bhrat an Chonartha chun plé agus díospóireacht a dhéanamh ar ghnéithe den saol. Is iad seo na daoine a bheidh mar cheannairí i ngluaiseacht na Gaeilge agus i saol na hÉireann sna blianta atá amach romhainn agus is tábhachtach go dtugtar an t-ardán agus an deis dóibh a gcuid tuairimí a fhorbairt agus a chur chun cinn. Is scéim phíolótach atá á reáchtáil againn i mbliana agus spéis againn tógáil air sna blianta amach romhainn.”

Mol an Óige: Conradh na Gaeilge host first ever Ard-Fheis na nÓg in Monaghan

For the first time ever, Conradh na Gaeilge has hosted Ard-Fheis na nÓg, for second level students, on 14 February 2019 in The Garage Theatre, Monaghan.  Ard-Fheis na nÓg presented young people from schools in Ulster and Leinster the chance to debate social and national issues that are important to them, and to have their opinions heard at Ard-Fheis Chonradh na Gaeilge, which will be held from the 22-23 February in The 4 Seasons Hotel, Monaghan.

Senior students were welcomed to participate in this pilot scheme from Irish medium schools Coláiste Feirste, Gaelcholáiste Oirialla, Coláiste Lú, and Scoil Iosaef, An Domhnach Mór. They received an insight into how Ard-Fheis Chonradh na Gaeilge is run, and the democratic structure of the organisation, which elects and guides Conradh na Gaeilge's plan of action each year.

Adhering to the theme of the Ard Fheis, ‘Language without Limits’, motions were discussed relating to the future of the Irish language in the north and in the south, the implications that Brexit may have, and much more.

President of Conradh na Gaeilge, Dr. Niall Comer said;

“It is brilliant that Ard-Fheis na nÓg has been so successful during the first year of the event.  It gives young Irish speakers a chance to come together with Conradh na Gaeilge to discuss and debate important aspects of their lives.  These are the people who will be leaders in the Irish language movement, and in Irish life, in the years to come and it is important that we give them a platform and the opportunity to develop and discuss their opinions.  This is a pilot scheme and we hope to build on it in the years to come.”
