Club Ceoil ag Scléip 2019 (Music Club competing in Scléip 2019)

Mar thraidisiún bliantúil anois, ghlac ár gclub ceoil páirt i Scléip ag deireadh mhí na Samhna.  Thaistil na scoláirí chuig an Amharclann Alley, Sráth Bán ar Mháirt 27 agus chuig an Amharclann Clasach, Baile Átha Cliath ar Dhéardaoin 29 Samhain 2018. Bhí an-lá ag na scoláirí ar an dá lá ag seinm, casadh agus damhsa trí Ghaeilge i measc Gaelcholáistí eile ó ar fud na tíre. Ar an Mháirt chan cór na scoile leagan de Believer le Imagine Dragons chomh maith le Hive ón dara bliain ag casadh Little Talks le Of Monsters and Men agus triúir ó Rang Chonchúir ag seinm Can I Be Him le James Arthur. Bhí an iomaíocht an-ghar idir Princess Saliu agus Lauryn Ní Riain sa chatagóir Amhránaíocht Chomhaimseartha (Sinsear) leis na cailíní ag casadh aistriúcháin Ghaeilge de Bruises le Lewis Capaldi agus I’ll Never Love Again le Lady GaGa ón scannán A Star Is Born. Ar an Déardaoin, bhain Seachtrán ón séú bliain ard-taitneamh as an lá i mBÁC nuair a chuir siad a leagan spleodrach de The Chain le Fleetwood Mac ar an stáitse.

D’éirigh le Luaryn ina chatagóir agus beidh siad ag glacadh páirte sa Chraobh san Amharclann Clasach, Cluain Tarbh ar an 30 Eanáir. Ádh mór ó ghach duine a Lauryn!

As is tradition now, our club ceoil attended Scléip at the end of November. Students travelled to the Alley Theatre, Strabane on Tuesday 27th and to the Clasac Theatre, Dublin on Thursday 29th November 2018. Students had a fantastic day in both venues playing, singing and performing trí Ghaeilge amongst many other Gaelcholáistí from all over the country. On Tuesday the choir presented their version of Believer by Imagine Dragons as well as Hive from second year who played Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men and a trio from Rang Chonchúir singing James Arthur’s Can I Be Him. The competition was very close between Princess Saliu and Lauryn Ní Riain in the Senior Contemporary Singing category with the girls entertaining the crowd with Irish translations of Bruises by Lewis Capaldi and I’ll Never Love Again by Lady GaGa from the film A Star is Born. On Thursday, Seachtrán from sixth year enjoyed performing their explosive rendition of The Chain by Fleetwood Mac on stage in Dublin.

Lauryn came out victorious and will be competing in the All-Ireland Final in the Clasac Theatre, Clontarf on 30th January. Best of luck Lauryn from all of us!
